Well, if you are like me, then you like to drink, the problem with drinking is that everyone believes that beer, even moderation, is bad for your overall health and can lead to a bunch of different problems. This “fact” is actually fiction, and for plenty of reasons, beer can be a great thing for your health. The healthiness of alcohol is no longer limited to wine, so when your girlfriend gloats about how her glass of red wine is healthy, go ahead and pop open a cold one, because your beer is too.
Doctors are reluctant or even afraid to give their approval to beer drinkers because the damage to your body from over-indulgence can completely reverse the health benefits of drinking beer, by damaging your liver from drinking in excess for long periods of time, to making you fat, because beer does contain a lot of calories. Nonetheless, overwhelming evidence has continue to surface in the past few years showing clear as day the benefits of having a beer or two a day.
One of the best reasons that I would advocate the beer or two a day principle is that it cuts the risk of heart disease by a noticeable margin, by raising our good cholesterol, and lowering LDL, which is bad cholesterol. This is one of the most important things for men especially to try to prevent, due to the increasing amount of cases of heart disease in the world. Not only does it cut your bad cholesterol, it even lowers your risk for diabetes, another problem plaguing America today.
While the above can be categorized as a health benefit for many types of alcohol, beer is also unique in providing you a way to lower your actual blood pressure. Blood pressure significantly effects how likely you are to contract a heart disease or have a heart attack/stroke in your life, and reducing this is a huge preventative measure in extending your life in your later years.
Lastly, beer can even reduce your chances of getting some of the most painful ailments for a man… A kidney stone. Beer reduces this risk higher than any type of alcohol, due to the diuretic effect and high water content inside. Now that you know that drinking can be a great and healthy way to have fun, grab a brew and start making your way to a healthy lifestyle.
